Kindergarten through second graders started P.E. classes with playground safety.  The students did a great job demonstrating playground safety rules.  “Man from Mars” and “Run Rabbits Run” are games that teach the children good running, dodging, tagging and good listening.  We use cut down pool noodles when tagging.  This helps the children realize it is a “tag” and not a “hit.”

Third and fourth graders started P.E. with the “Fitness Straw Run”.  The children run to one end of the gym, called as straw, and run back to the other end trying not to get tagged.  If tagged, they pay out one of their straws and then become the tagger.  Using a deck of “Uno” cards, we matched the color of our card to a colored sign with specific exercise descriptions.   The number on the card was the number of the exercises we had to do.   If dealt a reverse card, we had to run a lap backward around the gym.  A skip card meant we skipped a lap around the gym.

Junior High students started P.E. classes with the “Fitness Straw Run”, “Jog Tag” & “Fitness Stations.”  Jump ropes, agility ladders, hula hoops, situps, push ups, scooter, hurdles, dumbbells, the pull up bar & running laps are getting us in tip-top shape!
